RNAI-BASED CONTROL OF PHYTOPHAGOUS MITES:

CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES

The 9th webinar of the Researchers Meeting in Acarology Group on Facebook, through the Zoom technology will be held on Friday, February 12th 2021. Dr. Noureldin A. Ghazy Department of Agricultural Zoology, Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University, Egypt and Graduate School of Bio-Applications and Systems Engineering, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Japan. He will give a lecture entitled (RNAi-based control of phytophagous mites: challenges and opportunities). He will talk about RNA interference technology (RNAi) and its promising role in pest control, how to utilize the RNAi in mite pest management, The current challenges: dsRNA delivery and the High-throughput RNAi screen – Pest resistance to RNAi. Off-target effects – Possible use of RNAi technology to improve predatory mites performance – The synergism between RNAi, pesticides, and natural enemies.
The supervisor of the organization is Prof. Hany Elkawas, Chief Researcher, Plant Protection Research Institute and founder of the group Researchers Meeting in Acarology on Facebook – Egypt.
